http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 may stay longer than expected: Harry Redknapp
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp expects David Beckham to stay longer at White Hart Lane, hinting towards a possible permanent switch to London.
Beckham initially wanted to join European football to get back into the national side but ruled out a move to any other premier league club other than Manchester United. However, that stance has since mellowed and Beckham was now interested to join Tottenham
on a 2 month loan term.
The two clubs (LA Galaxy and Tottenham Hotspur) are currently in contract negotiations for the 35-year-old midfielder and Redknapp expects the English International to join the side by the end of the week. The Spurs manager has also maintained the fact that
he would want nothing more but to sign the former Manchester United star permanently, when his contract with LA Galaxy ends in November 2011.
"Yes it's a possibility, of course. It could do, for sure. It just depends on how it all goes. If he comes and does well then he will, I am certain, have lots of offers. They will want him in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 I would think. They will want him all over the world. But
we would want him as well. I think he will be a good influence. David will be good around the place, good in the dressing room and good with the other players,” stated the Spurs coach.
The manager added that a player like Beckham brings much more to the game than the usual players as the player is a champion at heart. The 35 year old has won everything a side could offer, having played for Manchester United during their most successful
era. This includes the unprecedented 1999 season, where United became the only club in English Football history to have managed “The Treble”.
Redknapp therefore believes that the football understanding and know-how of such an extraordinary player would be beneficial for everyone at the Spurs Camp. Beckham's vast knowledge on the pitch would provide Redknapp a plan B option in crucial situations.
Should the starting XI fail to produce the desired results, David Beckham can be installed in the second half to provide pin-point crosses to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741, Van Der Vaart and Jermaine Defoe, who all enjoy great aerial ability. Beckham is still
regarded as one of the best free-kick takers in the game and that can be used to get the side out of tricky situations and close matches as well.
