David Beckham on Managers and Management
David Beckham has been a busy man of late, with questions of managers and management springing up left, right and centre. One of the most recognizable football players in the world has been very busy following a disappointing World Cup for the English, despite not even playing a single game, or being in the squad for England.
As soon as the World Cup finished there were reports that England manager Fabio Capello would be asked to leave after failing to reach even the quarter finals of the tournament, once he said England could win.
Beckham was given a seat alongside Capello at the World Cup and that led to suggestions that he could one day go on to manage the England team. Beckham, though, has been quick to refute all such claims and has told his fans in an online chat that despite what they may have heard, he has no intention whatsoever of turning to management once his playing career is over and at this moment all he is thinking about is getting fit as soon as possible to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS next season.
On the subject of the England manager, Fabio Capello, Beckham has been quick to voice his support for the England boss, maintaining that the manager was not at fault for England's poor performance in South Africa. He went on to say that the fans and media need to realize that a manager can only do so much when preparing for a game and ultimately the responsibility resides with the players that take to the field of play.
Beckham was adamant though that no individual players are to blame for the performance either. He said that football is a team sport and that the England team as a whole is responsible and blaming individual players is unfair. Beckham also added that the England players would learn from the bad days that they have been through especially since there are a number of young players in the side who have great futures ahead of them.
On Jose Mourinho, the former Real Madrid star was full of praise and claimed Real could win the treble under the Portuguese who has already achieved the same with Inter Milan in Italy before joining the Spanish giants. Beckham praised Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, who was responsible for Real's extraordinary spending last season which included the recording breaking transfer of Ronaldo from Manchester United and Kaka from A.C. Milan, along with Xabi Alonso from Liverpool.
Beckham, who won the La Liga in Perez's last season at the club, said that he may have finished his career at Real Madrid had the President stayed at the club but after the election of Ramon Calderon, he had no choice but to leave the Spanish outfit.
It appears that despite Beckham's problems with injuries, it is only a matter of time before he returns to the football pitch and until that time comes, the media spotlight continues to shine on the former England Captain, who will be looking to make a speedy recovery to put his international career back on track.
