David Beckham set for a sensational return to England
It seems that David Beckham might just be returning to his old hunting grounds after all.
The former England international is close to a move back into the Premier League, but not as a Red Devil. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is looking to sign the midfielder on loan until the beginning of the MLS season in March 2011.
Beckham has made no secret of the fact that he would jump at the chance to play for Manchester United again. A move back to United is extremely unlikely though. Sir Alex Ferguson insists that he does not intend to bring the football icon back under his wing,
leaving the door open for title rivals to swoop in.
Speaking on the prospects of bringing David Beckham back into the Premier League, Redknapp said, “It's whether Galaxy will let him go on loan. If they did, we'd be interested and plenty of others would be as well. He'd be a good influence to have, the type
of lad you want at your club and he'd give the whole place a lift. He's been a fantastic player and he is someone the players would look up to and respect. And I still think he can do a job for sure.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 has a remarkable history in the Barclays Premier League. During his eleven-year tenure at Manchester United, he won nine major tournaments. At his prime, Beckham was undoubtedly the world most popular footballer. Even now, the player sparks
a media-frenzy wherever he goes. When asked if the media circus surrounding the football icon's return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 might prove to be too much of a distraction, the Spurs boss insisted it would not be a problem.
It would seem that Redknapp is underestimating the popularity of the former England captain. David Beckham’s homecoming will undoubtedly cause a media frenzy, something that could be severely detrimental to Tottenham’s title bid this season. Is the midfielder
destined for a return to England? We will find out in the coming weeks.
