David Beckham will be awarded a life time achievement award at the BBC sports personality of the year. The ceremony will be held tomorrow where many stars form the world of sports will take part.
The 35-year-old player has had a significant career and has contributed to the game of football over the past 18 years with his phenomenal talent and technique. Beckham will be present in the ceremony to collect the prestigious award in person tomorrow in
Birmingham.
There have been many greats who have won this prestigious award before and Beckham has added to that list. Apart form Beckham; Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Bobby Robson, George Best, Sir Alex Ferguson and golfer Seve Ballesteros have had the honours to receive
this award.
Beckham is currently playing for LA Galaxy. He started his career with Manchester United back in 1992. He was just 17 years old when he first came to the scene. With his team, he won six Premier League titles, two FA cups and the Champions league. Then he
moved to Real Madrid and won the La Liga Championship and the Spanish Super Cup.
Beckham is married to Victoria who is currently a fashion designer. He is a father of three children. Beckham has appeared in more than 450 professional games and has scored 90 goals in all his appearances. His debut for England was in 1996 and after that,
he won 115 international caps which is a record for an English outfield player.
Beckham is the only player for England who has scored in three consecutive World Cup finals.
The main award is expected to be won by the Jockey Tony McCoy. Other players who are also in the running are athlete Jessica Ennis, diver Tom Daley, golfer Lee Westwood, cricketer Graeme Swann and darts king Phil Taylor.
It will be a great honour for David Beckham to win such a prestigious award amongst so many greats of the game. Starting form a very young age, Beckham has achieved so many heights and he will once again score tomorrow at the awards ceremony.
