David Beckham to enter Olympics via LA Galaxy
It has recently been revealed that the star England footballer David Beckham is going to be given special dispensation by LA Galaxy.
This will enable the player to be a part of the Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
However, the deal between Beckham and Galaxy is not yet concrete as the signing of the documents has not taken place but everything else has been finalised.
According to the details of the contract that is being discussed between the star player and the club, the duration of time that Beckham will be tied to the Galaxy is going to be one year. However, if the deal between the two parties has to materialise,
it will be before March this year, as the month marks the beginning of the new MLS season.
The president of AEG, Tim Leiweke, the company which owns the Galaxy commented on the deal in the following manner, “We're down the road. I am confident we'll get it done. We have work to do, but we're not there yet. And as much as I didn't get too low when
they [PSG] were planning the parade down the Champs-Elysees … now as much as the media is reporting that we're done, I've been on the phone with [Beckham's] people all day. Trust me, we're not done. I wish we were done.”
The 36-year-old Beckham has informed the director of Paris St-Germain, Leonardo that he will be staying in California as he did not want to disturb his family consisting of Victoria, the wife, and four of their children.
The deal with Galaxy has the potential of providing Beckham a safe ride into the Olympic Games, something that the start player has been wanting at this stage of his career. This might be the very last Olympic Games in which Beckham would be able to show
his talent and fulfil his dream of securing a gold in the Olympic Games.
The international sporting event is coming back to the city of London for the third time in its history after which the capital of England will become the first city in the world to have hosted the Games thrice.
