David Beckham wants in on London Olympics 2012
David Beckham, star English footballer, has recently expressed his interest to become part of the Great Britain football team for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games. While sharing his thoughts, the footballer also asserted that he can still give a top
level performance that the Great Britain football team would need to make a mark in the Olympics.
Beckham has now reached 36 years and is near his retirement but the footballer is resilient in being part of the team once again. Currently, the footballer is under a contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy, a sporting club in th US. However, Beckham’s contract
with the club is about to reach its close shortly. Keeping that in light, Beckham has admitted that other clubs are interested in signing a contract with him after his present deal finishes its term. Particularly, the Barclays Premier League clubs have been
showing interest in signing up the famous footballer. Other than that, Ligue 1 side Paris St Germain also wants to get their hands on Beckham and cash in on him before he retires and disappears from the football world.
Beckham expressed himself in the following manner at the press conference that was recently conducted: "People have been saying [I am too old] for the last 10 or 15 years and i've still continued to play for my country. Right now, I feel fit and still love
playing, so I'm not finishing yet. At 36 years old to still have that interest in me is an honour, I'm very flattered by that but right now I'm a Galaxy player and I will continue to be a Galaxy player until we win the league - the MLS Cup - and then we'll
see. I haven't even sat down and thought about what my options are yet."
Having said that, he stated the fact that when the time to retire arrives, he will not be making any excuses to stay in the game and make money. Until then, Beckham hopes to serve his country by putting up the best of his performances for the team.
