David Beckham will return to cherished Real Madrid
English midfielder David Beckham has said he will return to his former club Real Madrid after expressing his admiration for the club.
Beckham, who captains his current club LA Galaxy, has been subject to speculation over where he will spend the first few months of 2011 when the MLS is out of action.
This year, and in 2009, the midfielder signed three-month loan deals with Italian side AC Milan, and it remains to be seen whether he will join a European team come January 2011.
But regardless of whether he will seek a new club to keep up his match fitness at the start of next year, Beckham has said that he will return to Real, where he spent four seasons between 2003 and 2007.
"Certainly I will return to Spain," England's former captain told reporters. "I returned two years ago to play a game. Real Madrid are always going to be in my heart."
'Loves' Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho
Beckham also expressed his admiration for Florentino Perez, who began his second term as president of Real last summer after holding the post between 2000 and 2006.
It was Perez' spending spree that brought several star players — including Beckham, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane — to the club during his first term as president.
"I love Florentino who is such a great man and makes special things happen at the club — so with him there, with the players they’ve got at the club, I believe they will be No 1 this year. As much as I respect Barcelona and think it’s a great club, my heart
is always with Real Madrid."
The Englishman, who missed out on this year's World Cup with an Achilles injury, added that he admires Real manager Jose Mourinho, who took charge of the club this summer.
"I love him as a person, he’s an incredible person. He was one of the first people to send me a message after I did my injury."
