David Beckham’s career on verge of retirement

The former England national team captain and superstar footballer David Beckham is going through serious issues these days. The current coach for the English national team Fabio Capello has given David Beckham a strong blow by calling him a bit too old and not fit for the team anymore in a television interview. The interview of Italian veteran coach Fabio Capello has no doubt drawn attention of media and people to the retirement issues of former captain David Beckham.
Recently in a television interview Fabio Capello announced about his future plans regarding Beckham and gave the hint of Beckham’s zero chances of return in the national team football squad. In the interview, Capello while expressing his views about the return of star midfielder in the English national team said that Beckham is a bit too old to play in competitive matches as he is 35 years old now. This comment has certainly added fuel to the fire because Beckham is still loved and encouraged by millions of English football fans. The interview at one side created news about Capello’s intentions regarding the former Manchester United midfielder but also stirred the issues of Beckham’s retirement and the future regarding his international football.
Beckham is still considered as one of the biggest names of football and regarded as a living legend in England. He had strong hopes to play for his country in the recent FIFA World cup, which was held in South Africa but due to muscular injury he had to stay out of the final playing squad. Despite knowing the fact that he would not be a part of world cup playing squad Beckham went to South Africa with the English national team as a mentor.
These days the 35-year-old former English football captain is busy in training and cannot wait to get fit and play for his nation. But still his chances of playing in the upcoming Euro Cup 2012 are quite low, as the coach Capello is not interested in counting him in the final playing squad. Fabio, while expressing his views about the chances of Beckham’s return said that he is very thankful to Beckham for his support and help in the world cup. He said that Beckham has been a very dynamic and valuable asset for the English team and the football world but now his prime days are almost over. He was talking to the media after a friendly match between Hungary and England at Wembley on Wednesday night. Capello admitted the fact that he has given his remarks and expressed his decision openly, and has not informed David Beckham about this at all. The 64-year-old veteran football coach Fabio Capello later added that David should realize the fact that he is not young anymore. Capello went on to say that Beckham should accept the fact that he cannot play in the English national team because it is time to introduce new and young talent. The coach said that we should prepare a strong team for future by working on young, emerging players. In the end the coach tried to soothe off the situation and said he will definitely give him a chance to play in a friendly match for the last time. It will be a farewell match for him.
After the interview, spokesman from L.A galaxy midfielder told the media that Beckham is still willing to play for his country, as he is working hard to get fit. He stated that Beckham will be available for his team as he is keen and eager to perform for his country, and has no plans to get a sudden retirement from the international football circuit.
The interview of Fabio Capello has certainly raised some fingers over the career of legendary former English captain. But it has also given a negative impression of Fabio Capello’s aggressive nature to the people. Fans are still hopeful to see their favourite footballer play for their national team. Now it is up to the coach and the former skipper whether they settle the brawl in a friendly way or not.
