David Brailsford happy with Team Sky current performance
David Brailsford of Team Sky is confident that the British side can bag an overall victory at the most prestigious cycling race of the season, the Tour de France 2012.
Bradley Wiggins is comfortably placed at the first overall position after the 16th classifications of the race. He is leading the classifications with more than two minute lead over his team-mate and compatriot, Christopher Froome.
While briefing on the matter, Brailsford briefed to Cyclingnews, "I’ve always had a lot of confidence in what we do,” Brailsford told Cycling News HD.
“There are two things that make you change your behaviour. The suffering has to be enough or the reward has to be enough. If either of those aren’t big enough, you’re not going to change and you will keep on doing what you’ve been doing”.
“For me in that first year the suffering was certainly enough. We’ve not stopped working since, we’ve been working our arses off and we won’t stop. For me, the key thing is that the pain of losing is bigger than the emotion of winning”.
The British team is having an outstanding season and currently leads the UCI World Tour teams’ ranking with a total number of 857 UCI points.
Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Team Katusha, Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step and Team Astana hold the next four positions with 762, 761, 677 and 560 UCI points in the respective order.
Team Sky is ideally placed at the race and currently holds the second overall position after the stage 16 team’s classifications.
Team RadioShack-Nissan is leading the category with Team Astana, Team BMC and Team Europcar holds the next three spots in the respective order.
