David Brailsford positive to win gold at World Championships and home Olympics 2012

David Brailsford mentioned that he will send the full strength squad to the UCI Track World Championships. He claimed that the World Championships and Olympics are the two top priority events for the 2012 season.
Brailsford is the British National High Performance Director and is optimistic that the British team will win the gold at the home event.
He told Telegraph, "We just can't give up any opportunities to race, the Olympics are getting too close".
He cited that there is not much time left before the mega event, "There are just two world cup meetings and the world championships in Melbourne left now. The clock is counting down very quickly”.
Brailsford is also managing the World Tour Team Sky along with the British National Team. While talking on the subject, he disclosed that both the teams have some outstanding riders and coaches who take full responsibility of their duties.
One advantage, however, is that most of the cyclists in the Great Britain squad also ride for Team Sky which makes things much easier.
He believes that flying over to Australia from United Kingdom can be a source of great fatigue for him and his team, and therefore, can become a hindrance in their way.
A total number of 14 medals was a big achievement for the Britain’s team during the Beijing Olympics 2008 and they are hopeful to improve their performance in front of the home crowd.
Brailsford, however, believes that the team must not look at their previous performance but should be more focused in the coming events. He said, “You can’t look back in sports, you’ve got to look forward”.
Great Britain’s Director believes that success in Melbourne during the UCI World Championships will give his team a huge psychological advantage.
He briefed, “You have got to get used to it - you have got to go out into the velodrome on race day and go through the process. It's the closest you will get in terms of preparing for the Olympics".
The British team secured as many as eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals during the previous edition of the Olympics.
The 47-year-old is positive that Team Great Britain will bring the gold medal home from the World Championships and will live up to the expectations of the home crowd during the 2012 Olympics.
