David Brophy scores second career victory against Matt Scriven – Boxing news
The British national professional boxer, David Brophy won his second professional bout fighting against the experienced 37-year-old Matt Scriven on May 13, 2011 at the Bellahouston Sports Centre in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Kenny Pringle was performing his duties as the referee of that competitive bout. The Middleweight Brophy won a unanimous points decision over his compatriot Scriven.
Brophy is very excited to take another step towards his growing career. The Middleweight contender has won both of the fights in his career. Brophy made a successful debut to his professional career when he went against James Tucker in their competitive
bout on February 25, 2011. Brophy won a unanimous points decision against Tucker at the Sports Centre in Wishaw, Scotland.
The middleweight contender, Matt Scriven has not been so impressive since he joined boxing. It was the 79th defeat of his career. Scriven should be worried about his success rate. Out of the 95 career fights, he has only been able to win 14 while
managed to draw one.
Brophy thanked his trainer Nelson and WBO super-featherweight champion Ricky Burns for their useful tips and guidelines to win that competition.
The 20-year-old Brophy admitted, “I’m thrilled to have maintained my 100 per cent record, the fight actually went a lot better than the first one. I felt a lot fitter in the ring. I gave him a big heavy cut to his eye but he continued which was fine as my
coach, Billy Nelson, wanted me to get the rounds under my belt.”
He added, “I was pleased with my combination shots. He was being quite dirty but I kept my composure and kept my discipline. Billy is the main man and I’ll be listening to what he tells me. I’m training with Ricky every day. It’s been good and he’s been
teaching me a few tricks of the trade.”
Brophy’s next fight venue and date has been decided. He will be fighting at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre on July 22, 2011. However, the decision about his next opponent will be taken very soon.
