David Carrillo Rozo earns Men’s 400m freestyle gold: Day seven – FINA World Masters Championships
David Carrillo Rozo of Venezuela earned gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle in the age category of 25-29 on concluding day of the 14th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) World Masters Championships 2012 in Riccione, Italy
on Saturday, June 16.
Rozo dictated terms to his opponents throughout the eight-lap freestyle event and proved his eligibility for gold medal. With his commendable pace, he devastated hopes of his opponents and tapped the finishing end for gold medal.
He remained considerably ahead of his challengers from the start and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 11.71 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Alessandro Foglio of Italy, who stayed nearly three seconds apart and occupied gold medal of the event with the timing of 4 minutes and 14.62 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Emanuele Botteri of Italy, who was 1.15 seconds apart and made his way to the medal rostrum for bronze medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 15.77 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Tyron Venter of South Africa, who stayed almost three body lengths apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 18.23 seconds.
Venter was chased by Andrea Ferrari of Italy, who was 1.33 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 19.56 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Philip Emslie of South Africa, who was only 0.04 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 19.60 seconds.
Emslie was chased by Massimiliano Colombi of Italy, who remained almost 1.60 seconds apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 21.22 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Daniele Dezi, who stayed 0.89 seconds behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 22.11 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all scheduled events while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable accomplishments in the 400m discipline after the session.
