David Collier hails 100-cap Strauss – Cricket News Update

third and final Test against South Africa at Lord’s.
“Nobody should be in any doubt whatsoever about the value of Andrew Strauss' contribution to the England team and the vital role he has played in taking our Test side to the top of the ICC's Test rankings,” said Collier.
“His record of 21 Test hundreds speaks volumes about his qualities as an opening batsman; he has been an integral member of three Ashes-winning sides - twice as captain - and as well as being an outstanding leader and a consummate professional, is a superb
ambassador for the sport as a whole” he added further.
Congratulating Strauss on the behalf of the entire ECB management, Collier hoped the stylish opener will continue adding fangled feathers to his memorable cap.
The 35-year-old Transvaal born top-order batsman today became the ninth only England cricketer to complete the century of Tests, when he walked out to lead the Poms in the third Investec Test against the Proteas, at Lord’s, the same venue which marked his
Test debut back in 2004. Having scored 21 centuries and 27 half centuries, he averages 41.27 with the bat in Tests. He has also played 127 One Day Internationals for England, compiling 4205 runs at an average of 35.36, including six centuries and 27 half centuries.
