David DeJesus excited as he joins the Chicago Cubs – MLB News

The newly hired outfielder for the Chicago Cubs David DeJesus said on Thursday, December 1, he was looking forward to commence his tenure in the club. Willing to grapple with every challenge, DeJesus hardly feels constrained by one of the toughest outfields
of baseball at Wrigley Field.
It is important to recall that until last week, the whole attention of the Cubs was to add in the coaching staff. DeJesus became the first roster attention of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, marking the beginning of team’s attention on the roster.
DeJesus was excited to be a part of the Chicago Cubs.
"When you have that feeling, that new type of feeling in the city, it's exciting," he said. "Living here and seeing the [news in the] paper and the hype that's going around, and to be able to be a part of it, that's a blessing."
Not only is excited. It is the club itself which seems to have reposed their complete confidence in this outfielder. Epstein believes that DeJesus does things well and having an outstanding outfield defence will be an added advantage for the club.
Epstein himself was all praise for DeJesus. "If you watch him play, you'll admire him as a player because he goes about it the right way and he's really well-rounded," Epstein said. "I tend to like those players."
DeJesus himself wants to be a ‘reliable’ player for the team. He vows he will give 100 percent when the new season begins. DeJesus also referred to his childhood period when his father asked him to be accountable for every action he did.
With the new inclusion, the Cubs have surely elevated the outfield. Interestingly, there was no single word prior to the contract. The whole deal was carried out with relative secrecy, the fact that the Cubs will only have surprises to offer.
The fact that the club has not won any World Series title since 1908, it is an ideal time especially after the arrival of the likes of Epstein, Hoyer and Sveum, that the Chicago Cubs had a new beginning: That of victory and glory that it deserves.
