David Dein – All set for the new Football Association Board Chairman
The Football Association board members are all set for the most important meeting of recent history this day to see a new chairman. Former Arsenal and Football Association vice chairman David Dein is a firm favourite for this highly esteemed post.
Earlier, Rodger Burden, the acting chairman had been working on the post since May when the permanent chairman Lord Triensman was forced for resignation. Burden resigned making the second in command Dein, the favourite for the job, following his strong statement
“could not trust FIFA” on not awarding England the 2018 World Cup.
The deputy chairman and chief executive of the London 2012 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympic-c40122 Games, Sir Keith Mills, was another potential candidate for this post who ruled himself out due to lack of time on his current responsibility, leaving Dein the sole contender.
Phil Gartside, the Bolton chairman, is the head of the nominations committee who is expected to present the nominations to the fellow board members. Andrew Croker, son of ex-FA general secretary Ted Croker, and the ex-Football League chairman David Sheepshanks
were also linked to the same post.
Dein, even though being 67 years of age, has good connections to the UEFA and FIFA; but it should also be kept under consideration that Dein would only have three year tenure as the chairman needs to stand down when he reaches 70 following current rules.
The board will also include a hearing on England's failure to win the right to host the 2018 World Cup and will also reveal the details in their international player development.
"We need to build bridges with Fifa and Uefa, and restore the authority and the respect of the governing body and he would be a good choice to do that," said the Former sports minister Richard Caborn in his interest to repair the relationship between the
FA and FIFA after the fallout of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 from the World Cup 2018 bidding process.
The England Government will be watching the proceedings carefully awaiting the final selection to further proceed to reform the supremacy of the organization.
