Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Dunn-c10475 has signed a new contract with the English Premier League side which will now keep him at the club until 2013.
The English midfielder joined the club in 1997 as a trainee and had to wait until 1998 to make his debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 in the goalless draw. His initial tasks as trainee at the club involved cleaning the boots of former goalkeeper Christian McCrone.
Dunn scored his first goal for the club in 1999 but it was overshadowed by the fact his side were relegated that season. His task from then on was to help the Rovers return to the Premier League and also helped them win the League Cup in the 2001-2002 season,
the same term he scored a goal tally in double figures.
It was uphill for Dunn from that season onwards as he established himself as a first team player. Unfortunately, the player suffered a loss of form and a falling out with then manager Graeme Souness, after which he decided on a move to Birmingham City.
Birmingham City reportedly signed the English midfielder for an estimated fee of 5.5 million pounds on a four year deal. Dunn’s career for Birmingham City took a bright start as he scored in his debut match against Tottenham Hotspur in 2003, giving his side
the win.
Dunn unfortunately picked up a hamstring injury which kept him on the sidelines for the better part of his second season at Birmingham City. He was unable to retain a place in the starting lineup due to uncertain fitness and with Birmingham City relegated
at the end of the 2005-2006 season, he moved back to Blackburn Rovers.
The midfielder did well under manager Sam Allardyce and has continued to perform well under his replacement, Steve Kean. The manager was full of praise for the player who has so far made a total of 311 appearances for the Rovers in all competitions and has
scored 30 goals.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“Everyone knows that not only is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Blackburn Rovers through and through, but he remains a top player and a key member of our squad.
He has been at the top of his game over recent weeks and we are all delighted to see him extend his association with the club.”
