David Duval happy with the way his life goes on
David Duval won three PGA Tour events in 1997, three in 1998, four in 1999 and one in 2000, prior to recording the maiden major victory of his career at The Open Championship in 2001.
In total, he had 13 career wins in a five-year stretch, which is considered as a great record, especially on the PGA Tour. However, his major victory did not prove to be lucky for him, as he has never recorded a win on the tour ever since.
The former world number one is now totally a different man while heading for the 2012 edition of the British Open, at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.
In 2010, he made it to the top-125 in the PGA Tour money list for the first time since 2002 and slipped down to the 775th spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Despite all that, he stated that he was much happier than one could expect in his life. According to him, he does not play the game like the way he used to in late 90’s. However, he does have many other things in life that makes him feel happy and proud
of himself.
"My life in general has blown up exponentially in a wonderful way with meeting my wife, having an instant family with stepchildren, having a couple of kids of my own biologically. I've got my oldest boy here," he said.
"I think I'm incredibly blessed in life. I'm an entirely different person. Back then it was all about me and all about golf, just like the majority of people that have marched through here this week".
In addition to that, he also stated that he was fortunate to avoid the need of nutritionists, trainers, managers and the like, as, according to him, there are things that are more important than all this.
Yet, he also admitted that he does love the game and play it for his living. However, he will not be the same again as he was more than a decade ago.
"It does not mean I don't love it, don't think I'm really good at it, and don't think I'm going to be really great at it again and don't desire to be," he said.
