David Ferrer outplays Andy Roddick in quarterfinal – Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011
Spanish world No.5, David Ferrer stung former world number one, Andy Roddick, in the quarter-final match of Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011, an ATP Masters 1000 event,  on Friday, 14th October in a long two hours and 33
minutes match that ended 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-6(2) in favour of the Spaniard.
Playing at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in Shanghai, China Ferrer redid the comeback winner turning the match scenario upside down. Roddick, on the contrary, did perform his best, however, could not bring down the Spanish
wall.
 Firing up with the first set, Roddick served out the first game of the match rolling down the scoreboard, 1-0. Levelling up the scores, Ferrer won his opening serve and switched 1-1. Rallying down games on respective serves, the
two levelled up at 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4 and then on 5-5.  
With a game one each again, the set went into a tiebreak with Roddick to serve first. Lashing out the first point, Ferrer broke the American world number fifteen and led the point table, 1-0. With a marvellous comeback from 4-2
to 4-4, the former world number one unleashed super serves to outdo the Spaniard in the first set winning the tiebreaker set, 7-6(5).
Following up with set 2, Ferrer served out the first game, saving a breakpoint and rolling down the scoreboard, 1-0. Roddick, however, levelled up instantly and switch back the serve. with the two winning a game each and levelling
up the scores, 2-2, Ferrer struck back as he served out game 5 and broke in game 6 to work away a comfortable lead, 4-2, and stood to serve again.
With just two more games to bag for his win, Ferrer pulled of winning the set with a serve-n-break winner, 6-2, to level up the set scores to 1-1 and served again for the decider.
Almost losing a breakpoint, Ferrer opened up the scoreboard, 1-0. Roddick levelled up next winning the 2nd game of the set, 1-1. Winning games on respective serves the two kept on levelling up, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4 and then
on 5-5, before pushing the decider into a tiebreaker.
Kicking off with the tiebreaker, Ferrer capitalized on the American world number fifteen, as he mounted a 4-2 lead and then kept on breaking the former world number one to win the decider, 7-6(2), and the match with a superb comeback
for the second time in this tournament.
Ferrer, doing away with Juan Carlos Ferrero in 3rd round and Roddick in the quarterfinal, now moves into the semi-final round of the 2011 Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011 to play against the winner of the quarterfinal match
between Feliciano Lopez and Florian Mayer.
