David Ferrer says Spain odds to win the Davis Cup are 60:40 – Tennis News
World No.5, David Ferrer, has a strong feeling that Spain will win this year’s Davis Cup final contested in Seville, Spain from Dec 2-4. We have an advantage playing this contest at home and coming straight from the World Tour
Finals. There would be enough practice for us that we can dismantle the Argentinean team at any platforms and considering the fact that we have former World No.1, Rafael Nadal, in our ranks, we can easily nail it.
He said “People say we are favourites, but players have to keep our feet on the ground. I think there's a 60-40 for Spain, because we play at home because we have the world number two”. However, Ferrer did proclaim that Spanish
fans should not place a lot of expectations from him as Argentineans are also world class players. They are in good form recently so not a lot of disparity will be experienced at the courts between the ranks of both nations’ superstars.
London ATP Tour Finals is also been given importance by the Spaniard who plans to achieve greater success and prepare himself for Davis Cup. He was talking about the ATP Tour Finals and said “This is not always easy, because even
though the quality of play rivals in the tournament is very high. But I face with great motivation for me is as important as the Davis”.
He acknowledged his compatriot World No.2, Rafael Nadal, for achieving such great success in his career and appreciated the fact that he has learned a lot of techniques and skills to tackle different sort of scenarios with utmost
ease and composure.
Ferrer also stated that having him on proliferates Spanish team chances to clinch the Davis Cup provided the rest of the Spanish participants help Nadal by nailing their respective matches. He said "It is true that without him
win the United States and in Mar del Plata, but the team Rafa gets too high, is a key for us".
World No.5 further added that it’s a special feeling when someone is playing a Davis Cup as it gives you a different feel, playing on home courts, familiar atmosphere and mesmerizing local crowd. The venue is top class and Seville
owns one of the best tennis courts; it is an honour playing in these courts and entertaining local crowd. Spanish team will definitely provide their best and most probably clinch the title that will delight the fans.
