David Ferrer slams down Nicolas Mahut in round 2 – BNP Paribas Masters 2011
David Ferrer, Spanish world No.5, overpowered French world No.95, Nicolas Mahut, in the 2nd round of the BNP Paribas Masters 2011 on Wednesday, 9th of November. Playing on Indoor hard circuits at Palais Omnisports
de Paris-Bercy, Paris, France, the two rallied for an hour and 27 minutes before the Spaniard blistered away the second set with a triple match point winner to finish off with a 6-4, 6-4 score and moved onto the third round seat of the event.
Commencing with the fixture, Frenchman, Mahut started off serving out his opening serve and the first game of the match, 1-0. Rivalling the Frenchman, Ferrer continued with his first serve next, game two, and served out to even
up the scores at 1-1.
Continuing next, world No.95, Frenchman, served his second game of the match, however, dropped short as Ferrer blew away the game with a superb forehand cross court shot. Breaking Mahut in game two, the Spaniard served his second
game and extended his lead from 2-1 to 3-1 and switched the serve again.
Cutting down the lead, Mahut did bag a winner, however, was unable to level up the scores again, 3-2. Storming away with game six, Ferrer sustained the set with his two games lead, 4-2. Tailing the Spaniard, Mahut kept on bagging
games, however, could not even up the scores at any point of the set. Eventually, world No.5 took away the set beating down his rival, 6-4, and moved on to the next set.
Mahut, down one set, continued with served first in the second and serving out the opening game of the set, 1-0. Ferrer followed the Frenchman, serving out his first serve of the set and evened up the scores at 1-1. Serving out
games of respective serves, the two jammed up again at 2-2 and 3-3 and then at 4-4 before the Spaniard fooled out the Frenchman to win the fixture.
Tailing the Frenchman, Ferrer served out game eight to level the scores at 4-4. Breaking the Frenchman next, the higher ranked Spaniard pushed away into the lead bagging game nine and toped up the cake with a super triple match
point winner and ended up the second set, 6-4, and the tie in straight sets to walk on to the third round of the ATP Masters Tour 1000 event.
Doing away with the Frenchman, Ferrer now walks onto the third round ramp to rival Alexandr Dolgopolov in the 3rd round of BNP Paribas Masters 2011 as they battle out the quarter-final seat of the event.
