David Fletcher accepted a two-year offer by Team Orange Monkey-Cannondale
David Fletcher has penned a two-year deal with one of the top Cross Country Mountain Bike teams in the UK, Orange Monkey-Cannondale.
Team Orange Monkey-Cannondale was established in 2004 and it has claimed numerous victories through the different Cross Country Mountain Bike events.
The 22-year-old believes that joining the new team will definitely help him chasing some of the goals he has for the future.
He briefed, "I believe this is the right move to take my career forward, I now feel that I have the right team and structure to push on with gaining an Olympic place and my goal of becoming a world class podium athlete".
The main ingredient behind David’s success recipe was the training he received through the British Cycling academy.
It was the result of the tough preparations that helped him with a bronze medal early on in his career.
Fletcher outsprinted many experienced cyclists at the junior World Championships 2007 and proved his mettle.
The cyclist is currently enjoying the best form of his career and has claimed the top under 23 performances with the all-round display of his abilities.
Team Manager, Will Cooper is delighted to sign Fletcher for the coming seasons. He cited, “David Fletcher is a proven talent, and the team is extremely excited at his addition to the roster for the next two seasons. David will bring a fresh highly motivated
approach to racing within Orange Monkey-Cannondale”.
Fletcher is now leading the Elite Category for the first time in his career and is looking ahead to continue the 2012 season with the same form.
The 22-year-old hopes to represent his nation at the London Olympics. British MTB Cycling Head, Phil Dixon, also believes that Great Britain’s chances at the home event are quite high with Fletcher.
He also understands that the move to join Orange Monkey-Cannondale will help him groom at the Elite level.
Riding in the new team will give him an ideal opportunity to hit the best form before the 2012 Olympic Games.
Besides the Olympic Games, David also plans to ride the British Cross Country National Series and the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in South Africa, scheduled during March 2012.
The cyclist is optimistic with his new team and is hopeful to help the side in securing some wins early in the season.
The new season is crucial for Fletcher as some good performances early on can really earn him a spot at the home Olympics.
