David Freese, Lance Berkman joyous after winning Game 6 – MLB Update

David Freese and Lance Berkman were excited after playing a major role in the World Series Game 6 win over the Texas Rangers on Thursday, October 27 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
Talking to reporters after lashing a walk-off home-run in the 11th inning and winning it 10-9 for the Cardinals, Freese stated that the team kept battling and did not lose hope, which proved to be a driving force for the Cardinals. Pointing out
the Cardinals made five comebacks in the game, Freese stressed that it defines the overall mentality of the team.
Berkman, who was named as National League’s comeback player of the year, described these moments as special. He articulated that the only game close to this experience was the 18-inning encounter against Atlanta Braves in the 2005 National League Division
Series, which the Cardinals won on a walk-off home-run as well.
Explaining his thoughts before driving in the tying single, Berkman said, “I actually felt pretty good about it because I figured I was in a no-lose situation. If you don't come through right there, it's only one at-bat and it's over with, and they might
talk about it for a couple days, but it's not that big a deal. If you come through, it's the greatest.”
Berkman earned praise from Freese, who acknowledged that the veteran has taught him everything about how to approach a similar situation. Freese played down talks of emotions taking over him during the game and advocated his viewpoint by declaring that similar
situations do occur frequently and thus should be handled professionally.
Freese was named as NL Championship Series’ Most Valuable Player for his contributions in the seven-game series and is now in-line for a similar nomination in the World Series as well. Expressing his thought on the two-out triple in the ninth inning, Freese
asserted that he went back to the basics of just watching the ball and trying to hit it. He continued that he did the same in the 11th inning and was lucky to get the walk-off homer for the Cardinals.
Answering a question on how does he manage to control emotions, Freese stressed that he keeps reminding himself that this is the same game he used to play when he was six years old.
