David Freese, Marc Rzepczynski proud of being with St. Louis Cardinals – MLB Update
St. Louis Cardinals’ third baseman David Freese and relief pitcher Marc Rzepczynski expressed immense pleasure after their qualification to the World Series and are confident that the team will leave no stone unturned in ensuring a win in the Fall Classic
against the Texas Rangers.
Freese was named Most Valuable Player for his priceless contributions in the National League Championship Series, but instead of boasting, he remained adamant of a more dominant performance in the World Series.
Expressing his feelings after being named MVP, Freese articulated that not many players get a chance to achieve this in their hometown. He clarified that being a part of the Cardinals is a special feeling in itself.
Freese gave credit to ace Chris Carpenter for keeping the team together after the Cardinals had dropped to 10.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves in the Wild Card standings. Freese said, “Carpenter, one of our leaders, kind of got everybody together, had a
little players only deal. And we kind of just said -- kind of we've got to step it up, no matter how this ends, we've got to play to our talent, to our ability.”
Rzepczynski did not stay behind in praising the ace and agreed with Freese. The relief pitcher asserted that in addition to Carpenter, manager Tony La Russa’s role was exemplary in determining the fate of the team. Rzepczynski voiced that the manager instructed
the roster to take one game at a time and that attitude paid off in the end.
Now that the Redbirds are making their first trip to the Fall Classic since 2006, they will want to make full use of this opportunity. They became only the tenth Wild Card team in the history of Major League Baseball to qualify for the World Series and it
remains to be seen how far they succeed in this seven-game fiesta.
With the Rangers up next, Freese is confident of putting up a decent show against the American League Stalwarts. He asserted that the Rangers are a scary team, but both teams are equally hungry for the title. The World Series will surely be a classic, as
it always has been.
