David Grace looking to maintain his ranking position – Snooker Update
During the last stages of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn announced that the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has added some new snooker tournaments in the new
season which include three Asian Players Tour Championship (APTC) events and the International Snooker Championship.
One of the emerging snooker players of the world, England’s David Grace has been preparing to begin his campaign of the new snooker season with the objective to make an appearance. The Englishman has just launched his website, www.davidgracesnooker.co.uk,
where he will be positing his views about the game. The Englishman is aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming snooker events and improve his rankings.
While speaking to World Snooker, Grace said, “My main goal last season was just to keep my place, and hopefully I can build on that now. It's going to be tough because, like a lot of other players, I started the season with no ranking points. I spoke to
Jason Ferguson and he explained the reasons behind that.”
He added, “I've got a guaranteed place on the tour for two seasons and I will stand or fall based on my performances and results over those two years.”
Grace could not start the recent snooker season up to the mark and tumbled down in the qualifying session of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open clash. In the recently finished UK PTC Event 1, Grace made his way into
the fourth round where he was up against the youngster Jack Lisowski. The young Lisowski played impressively against Grace and was able to defeat him by the score line of 4-1.
Grace was unable to perform according to the standards in the previous snooker season and failed to hit the initial stages of any major ranking snooker tournament. He performed brilliantly in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) but failed to claim any of
the titles of PTC events. However, he is aiming to bring fireworks in the recent snooker season.
It will be interesting to see what type of impact Grace will make during the new season as he will be looking to become more competitive and improve his game-play.
