David Guez and Adam Kellner progress into the semi-final of 2011 Prosperita Open
French tennis player David Guez scored a straight-sets victory over compatriot Jonathan Eysseric today, defeating his quarterfinal opponent in easy sets to proceed to the semi-final of the 2011 Prosperita Open. It was a routine
victory for the French pro, who took a little under one hour and eight minutes to send Eysseric packing 6-4, 6-0.
Guez, who is ranked 166th in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) singles rankings list played tremendously throughout the match and didn’t allow his opponent to break back. He played quite well and scored 74
percent of his first serves, winning 78 percent of points on them. He managed to convert 100 percent of breakpoints to lead the set with a 6-4 score. Guez kept his winning moment flowing in the final set and broke his opponent in the sixth game to clinch the
set with a bagel. Furthermore he scored 75 percent of points on service and 86 percent of points on return in the final set to cement his victory in straight sets.
In another match during the day, Adam Kellner of Hungary sent Belarusian pro Uladzimir Ignatik home in three thrilling sets 2-6, 6(8)-7, 3-6 in the fourth quarterfinals at Ostrava.
The first set of the tournament was extremely easy for Ignatik, who committed four double faults but didn’t waste any break point opportunity. He broke his opponent’s serves five times, and won 18 out of 23 points for a percentage
of 52. This helped Ignatik to win the first 6-2, giving him a considerable advantage over Kellner early in the match.
Kellner tried his best to improve his bad performance in the first set, and succeeded in breaking the world number 168 in a tie-break. The Hungarian pro dominated his opponent and broke his opponent in the tenth game to take a
10-8 lead in the second set. In the final set, the 24-year-old Hungarian completely dominated the set and broke his opponent in the ninth game to race towards a lopsided 2-6, 10-8, 6-3 victory.
Guez and Kellner will face each other in the semi-final on Saturday. These players have never played each other making this their first ever meeting ever.
