David Haye, Vitali Klitschko likely to fight in March 2012 – Boxing news
Former World Boxing Association World Heavyweight Champion, David Haye, is getting ready for another title shot at the Klitschko brothers and the mega showdown is expected to happen in March 2012.
However, this time the Brit is going to take on Vitali Klitschko, who currently holds the World Boxing Council world heavyweight championship belt.
Haye, who held a record of winning 25 of his 27 professional fights, with 23 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, officially announced his retirement on his 31st birthday. However, Haye, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, is
back to training in order to regain shape for his fight with Vitali which is possibly going to take place at the ESPIRIT Arena in Düsseldorf.
A Haye camp insider told the Daily Telegraph, “David was deeply disappointed with his performance against Wladimir last summer and does not want to go out with that as the final note in his career. Talks have been going on behind the scenes and this could
be his swansong fight.”
The brash Londoner fought the younger Klitschko, Wladimir, in a highly anticipated unification bout for the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Football Stadium in Germany.
Haye declared a lot in advance of his fight but he failed to deliver and as a result, lost to Wladimir via unanimous point’s decision. However, the chief of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, believes Haye can beat Vitali, who holds a record of winning
43 of his 45 professional fights, with 40 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Schaefer said, “Myself and Oscar [de la Hoya] have always said to David and Adam Booth [Haye's manager and trainer], that we believe the style matchup with Vitali gave David a better option of winning.”
Haye has always said he will return to boxing if he gets a chance with any of the Klitschko brothers because he is desperate to avenge his defeat so let’s see if Vitali and Haye sign a contract.
