David Haye: I am still here if Wladimir Klitschko wants me to be his 50th knockout – Boxing news
After losing his unification bout for the heavyweight titles against Wladimir Klitschko, David Haye has said he is willing to be Dr. Steelhammer’s 50th knockout provided he agrees to have a rematch.
The Former WBA world heavyweight titleholder David Haye lost his battle against the IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles on a unanimous points’ decision on Saturday,
July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Football Stadium in Germany.
It was a highly anticipated bout with a crowd of over 60,000 people. Moreover, it was also one of the biggest bouts in the British history.
Haye declared he will knockout Klitschko within six rounds and will take his head off whereas Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko claimed he will make the brash Londoner Haye his 50th knockout. However, both heavyweight combatants, who were unbeaten
from 2004, were somehow unable to fulfil their promises.
The 30-year-old, Haye, is now desperate to avenge his defeat against the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant.
Haye told the media if Klitschko still wants to fulfil his promise by making him his 50th knockout, he is welcomed. He declared he will straightaway go back to Germany if this happens.
Haye admitted he could not produce what he promised and therefore he wants another chance.
Whiles speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I am still here if he wants the opportunity to try to knock me out.  If he wants me to be his fiftieth knockout after all the stuff that was said then I’m ready to give him the opportunity to try for it.  I would
go back to Germany.  I talked big and didn’t produce the goods.”
Haye, who announced he will retire on his 31st birthday, in the end remarked he can also delay his retirement plans, provided Klitschko gives him a chance again as he knows he does not have any more titles with him to claim a rematch.
“I will retire in three months.  The fight happened because it made money so if Wlad knows he can generate money by fighting me then fingers crossed it happens again.  (If they offered a date after October 13th) I’d have to consider it (postponing retirement)
– beggars can’t be choosers,” said Haye.
