David Haye boosted by George Groves’ victory over James DeGale – Boxing news
George Groves silenced his London rival James DeGale in a grudge match at the O2 Arena on Monday.
He defeated the Chunky DeGale by scoring an enthralling point’s win and thus clinched the British & Commonwealth Super Middleweight Titles.
However, Groves win over DeGale has left the World Boxing Association’s World Heavyweight Champion David Haye buzzing.
The 30-year-old Haye, who is set to face the International Boxing Federation, International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Organization and Ring Magazine Champion Wladimir Klitschko, was ringside to see his gym-mate survive a bloody fight.
David ‘the Hayemaker’ Haye was very excited on his friend’s win and while speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Off the back of George's win, everybody in the camp will be buzzing. I'm big on being a positive person and if George hadn't won for whatever reason,
a cut or whatever it had been, that would have hurt the morale of Team Hayemaker. We run a very small, intimate gym, me and George are the two main fighters in it. Having 50 per cent of the gym coming off a career best win puts everybody on a high, it will
make for a great atmosphere for my fight.”
The Londoner Haye, who has won 25 fights with 23 knockouts, also believes that now Groves can go all the way, as he has extended his unbeaten record to 13 fights. Moreover, he has added British Super Middleweight title to his own Commonwealth championship.
Haye commented on his win and told the media that Groves is growing as a man and as a boxer. He added Groves has now proved himself in front of the world that he definitely has what it takes to get to the top. He also admired the Saint’s physical and mental
strength.
David Haye will now focus on his fight on July 2, 2011 in Hamburg, where he puts his World Boxing Association title on the line against Wladimir Klitschko. This fight is being considered as one of the biggest fights in British history.
