David Haye claims his fight with Wladimir Klitschko will overshadow Lewis v Tyson – Boxing news
The World Boxing Association’s World Heavyweight Champion David Haye has claimed his fight with the International Boxing Federation’s, International Boxing Organisation’s, World Boxing Organisation’s and Ring Magazine Champion, Wladimir Klitschko, will overshadow
Lennox Lewis v Mike Tyson, which was held back in June 8, 2002 at the Pyramid Arena in Memphis.
The Lewis-Tyson fight in which Lewis successfully defended his Heavyweight championship titles by knocking out Tyson in the eighth round was an eagerly anticipated clash and it was also the highest-grossing heavyweight pay-per-view event in the boxing history.
However, the 30-year-old Londoner, Haye, has vowed his unification bout for the heavyweight titles with Wladimir Klitschko, which will take place on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Arena in Germany, will break all the pay-per-view records in boxing history.
“The pay-per-view numbers will speak for themselves, but I believe this fight will outdo Tyson-Lewis,” said Haye.
The Hayemaker, Haye, stated Lewis and Tyson both were not at the peak of their careers when they took on each other in the ring but it was a big hit because the people wanted the fight to happen. Haye added however, Klitschko and him both are at their prime
so this fight is definitely going to be the bigger one.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “They were both in the twilight of their careers, not at their peak, and the fight happened a few years after many people wanted it to happen. But in this fight you have two champions who are in their prime and
both holding titles. It’s winner takes all and I can’t wait for that.”
In the end Haye, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 23 by the way of a knockout, passed on a flattering statement saying he does not care which way the fight goes but as long as people are passionate about it, he is ok.
“If people don’t like what I say, tune in and watch me get beat up. As long as you feel passionately about me one way or another, it doesn’t matter,” said Haye.
