David Haye confident after the weigh in against Wladimir Klitschko – Boxing news
The current WBA world heavyweight champion David Haye is looking confident after he weighed lesser against the IBF, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko.
The Hayemaker, Haye, weighed in at 212lb, 12oz whereas Dr. Steelhammer, Klitschko, was much heavier than the brash Londoner, as he stepped off the scale at 242lb, 8oz.
The 30-year-old, Haye, who will step in the ring against Wladimir Klitschko in a highly anticipated unification bout for the heavyweight titles on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg Football stadium, had a lot of support from the British fans whereas
Klitschko had a bit less. Moreover, Klitschko was also booed when his weight was announced after Haye stepped off the scale.
Haye believes this is the first time the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant Klitschko has been booed by the audience. Haye claimed there was nervousness in Klitschko’s eyes.
“The support is great,” Haye said. “Never before has Wladimir Klitschko been booed on the way to a weigh-in. That's the first time. It will be interesting to see how he deals with it. I thought he looked nervous. I rattled him.”
He added Klitschko has never faced anyone as fit as him and therefore this time he will have to be on his toes all the time.
Haye stated, “He's not used to someone as confident as I am or someone coming into it in shape like me.”
After the weigh in, Haye again started passing on comments to the Ukrainian pugilist until people around him came in and took him away.
Haye was asked by the media what he said to Klitschko and the Londoner replied by saying he cannot use those words again, as they were so harsh.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I'm afraid I can't repeat what I said to him in the face-to-face. It's unrepeatable.”
In the end, Haye revealed he did not have any fix plans for the weigh in but he just wanted to be physically fit.
“There was no real fixed plan for my weight, but I wanted to be at my lightest, fittest and healthiest,” Haye remarked.
