David Haye insists he’s winning the mental game
One mistake to make in boxing is to think it’s only a physical game.
In preparation for his upcoming November 13 bout with Audley Harrison, WBA titlist David Haye insists he isn’t getting caught up in the hype and talk and that he’s only interested in one thing: outdoing Harrison psychologically.
Haye recently told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show that he already had all the instruments to get into Harrison’s head.  Much of that has to do with having so much experience with the older Harrison.
“I know what I’m planning to do,” Haye said.  “I’ve trained hard and I know Audley inside out. I’ve trained with him, sparred with him, seen him in the amateurs and seen him in the professionals.  I’ve talked to him behind closed doors and I know all about
his demons. I know how to get inside his head. I know how to mess him up in the ring.”
Haye insisted he wasn’t taking the upcoming bout, which will take place at the MEN Arena in Manchester, easily, and that he recognizes that for Harrison, it is pretty much do or die.
That can be a dangerous tool for a fighter.
“Audley’s clever enough to know this is his last chance. This is it for him so I’m anticipating facing the best possible Audley Harrison,” “The Hayemaker” said.
Haye has faced round criticism recently from the boxing world, for seemingly avoiding the valid competition of his division in a bid to merely maintain his status as WBA champion.  While Haye insists things aren’t so simple, many in the boxing world reply
that they are—and have ultimately looked elsewhere for a British boxing idol.
Enter newcomer Derek Chisora, who is set to face heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko on December 11.  Chisora, though completely inexperienced with fighters of Klitschko’s caliber, will nevertheless have the chance to totally shadow Haye’s victory should
he beat “Dr. Steelhammer.”
