David Haye is not interested in Warren’s all-British heavyweight showdown – Boxing News
Briton fighter David Haye is not really interested in taking up promoter Frank Warren’s idea of an all-British showdown against the top contenders in the division. For Haye, the only person he wants to fight is Vitali Klitschko and if that does not happen,
he will not fight anyone at all.
“I'm waiting for the fight [Vitali] to happen,” said Haye to I Film London.
For Haye, a showdown against Vitali Klitschko is his dream and he has been asking for it for a long time now. Haye defeated contender Dereck Chisora earlier this year in July to become the number one contender to face Vitali.
On the other hand, WBC champion Vitali Klitschko is in no mood to give Haye that chance. He has been talking about his political life, paying no heed to Haye’s demands.
“No disrespect to either of them [Fury and Price], they can probably go on to do great things, but I'm too old and too small. I want to fight Vitali. Vitali said he can knock me out. I want him to prove it,” said Haye while talking about Frank Warren’s proposed
idea of a showdown between all British fighters.
For now, David Haye is ready to take on Vitali Klitschko any day. He wants to go head to head against the Ukrainian champion in order to cement his legacy.
“David Haye, David Price and Tyson Fury are three big men with big digs and big question marks remaining over their durability. Add Dereck Chisora, rumoured to be re-applying for his British license, then pair any two in semi-finals with the victors to meet
and determine the 'Don'. All would fill football stadiums,” said Warren in his recent column in the Sun.
However, David Haye has declined the idea of the four-way showdown, believing he is not at the stage where he wants to prove himself against younger fighters. Haye believes he has defeated Chisora to get his rightful title shot.
On the other hand, Vitali Klitschko has not given a response to Vitali’s demand yet and probably he will not as things are right now.
