David Haye is satisfied with his career with or without Vitali – Boxing News
After punishing Dereck Chisora in the ring, as promised, David Haye is satisfied with his career, with or without a showdown against Vitali Klitschko.
David Haye, former unified world cruiserweight champion who once held the WBA, WBC, WBO and the Ring cruiserweight titles, believes he has done it all. The Briton is of the view that a fight against Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC heavyweight champion,
will glorify his career. However, Haye believes if a fight against Vitali is not settled, even then he has cemented his legacy.
“If a fight with Vitali happens down the line, fantastic,” Haye in a recent interview with BBC Sport.
He added, “If it doesn't then I've been undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world and a heavyweight champion of the world. I've achieved more than I anticipated I would do as a youngster. I'm happy with what I've done in the ring and it's nice to finish
on such a high. When I retired after losing to Wladimir a year ago, it left a bitter taste in my mouth. But this time round after fighting in London in front of 30,000 of my fans, it really did put a smile on my face.”
David Haye promised fans that he would punish Dereck Chisora in the ring for his impudence, and so he did. The European fighter who came back from retirement did an impressive job in establishing his brand once again.
Haye looked fresher and smarter than ever. He had trained well and he knew what to do. He knocked out Chisora in the fifth round, despite being 7 lbs lighter in weight.
After a defeat at the hands of Dr. Steelhammer, David Haye went into retirement. However, following a public brawl with Dereck Chisora in Munich, Haye decided to make a comeback. His fight against Chisora was a highly controversial one, since it was not
being sanctioned by the BBBC despite being held in London.
For now, Haye is on the verge of retirement. The British fighter aims to take on Vitali Klitschko as his last opponent only if the Ukrainian champion agrees.
