David Haye pursuing British boxing license to fight Vitali Klitschko – Boxing News
Former world heavyweight champion David Haye is once again pursuing a British boxing license, to ensure a fight against the current WBC heavyweight titlist Vitali Klitschko. It seems like the Briton has not yet lost hopes of facing the world’s best fighter
Vitali. After being beaten by his younger brother Wladimir Klitschko, Haye is now looking forward to get a title shot at the elder Vitali Klitschko.
Haye fought his last match with a Luxembourg Boxing Federation license against Dereck Chisora. Haye defeated Chisora via fifth round knockout and is now looking forward to claiming a shot at Klitschko.
Now, the former champion is looking forward to end his collaboration with the Luxembourg Boxing Federation to acquire a British boxing license once again.
“I’d like to thank the Luxembourg Boxing Federation for licensing me ahead of my July bout with Dereck Chisora in London, but I no longer require that licence,” said Haye.
“It’s been well-publicised already, but the reason I applied for a license from the Luxembourg Boxing Federation was because my opponent, Dereck Chisora, had seen his British licence withdrawn. The only way we were able to deliver the fight the public wanted,
when they wanted it, was to both apply for foreign licences, as arranged by Chisora’s promoter. In an ideal world, though, I’d now like to box on with a British licence. I’m a British boxer.”
Haye then went onto saying that he wants to bring Vitali Klitschko to the ring next year. For some odd reason, Haye cursed Vitali’s election campaign, saying it would fail and then the Ukrainian fighter will be forced to fight him.
Vitali Klitschko defeated Manuel Charr two weeks back in what was being considered his last fight. Haye was hopeful that Vitali will accept his challenge and extend his stay in boxing but he did not. Haye was displeased to know that the Ukrainian WBC champion
has decided to hang up his gloves, if not permanently then at least for the time being.
According to Haye, Vitali knows he will lose against him and that is the reason why he is not accepting his challenge.
