David Haye returns from retirement to take on Dereck Chisora in a title bout – Boxing News
David Haye, the former WBA World heavyweight champion, who is coming back from his retirement, has finally been scheduled to take on Dereck Chisora, the former BBBC British and Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight champion, in a 12-round bout which
will be held on July 14, 2012.
The ring for this much anticipated bout will be set up at Upton Park situated in West Ham, London, United Kingdom and the Saturday night showdown is being promoted by Wilfried Sauerland of Sauerland Event.
The duo recently shared their thoughts about the finalisation of the July 14 showdown and aggressively vowed to beat each other. The clash is somewhat of a historic nature and is being dubbed as the bout in which Haye will take revenge of the jab that Dereck
threw without any concrete reason.
At the same time, Chisora also wants to avenge the punch that Haye connected at the very same moment in Munich. Dereck was coming out of the ring after receiving a unanimous decision loss from Vitali Klitschko and was frustrated.
In sheer anger Dereck, who was being continuously bashed verbally by David, while going through the crowd attacked Haye. David evaded the jab and connected his right hand.
After that rash behaviour, Dereck underwent a series of unfortunate events and penalties. The current July engagement is therefore being denoted as a bout in which two angry beasts will collide.
David, 31, has been in a total 27 bouts and lost just two fights in his whole career. After his last loss to Wladimir, Haye decided to hang his gloves. Dereck, on the other hand, has been in a total 18 bouts and emerged victorious in 15. He has nailed nine
of his opponents by knockout as compared to Haye’s 23.
During the press conference, David, also known as ‘The Hayemaker’, remarked, “He is the ideal opponent for me. I am so glad he has got a good chin because if he didn’t have a good chin he would be blasted out the first round. This means I will give him a
nice, slow concussive beating. I tried to knock him out in Munich and this is the opportunity to shut him up.”
Chisora, widely known as the ‘Del Boy’, stated with sheer insolence, “That was a lucky shot he hit me with in Munich. David, you are winning 1-0, but come July, I am coming to whoop your a**.”
The collision will certainly be a classic one since both men are raged at each other and above all want to just tear each other apart. The pay-per-view will also witness Alexander Povetkin take on Hasim Rahman in a title bout. Dereck-David bout will also
have the vacant WBO International heavyweight title up for grabs.
