David Haye says he is waiting for Vitali Klitschko to contact him – Boxing news
Former World Boxing Association world heavyweight champion, David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye, has put aside his retirement plans, as the Brit is making his bid for another heavyweight title fight against the World Boxing Council World Heavyweight Champion, Vitali
Klitschko.
The 30-yaer-old brash Londoner, Haye, who lost his WBA title to Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBA Super, IBF, WBO Super, IBO and Ring
Magazine Champion on July 2, 2011, was scheduled against Vitali back in 2009. However, the fight did not happen, as Haye walked away from it due to some problems with the fight contract.
Haye really wanted to have a rematch with Wladimir as he hoped to avenge his defeat. However, since he was turned down by Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir, Haye has made up his mind to take on Wladimir’s elder brother, Vitali Klitschko.
Haye told the media he is waiting for Vitali to contact him and sign a contract. Haye’s fight with Wladimir was one of the biggest bouts in British history. Therefore, Haye also claimed if Vitali fights him he will get his biggest payday.
“(If he wants to fight), then he should get in touch with my management and get the contract in the bag,” said Haye. “He has my contact details. I am waiting for him and urge him on.
“No fight at heavyweight would generate more publicity than Haye against the old Klitschko. I am the most popular heavyweight on the planet and with me he will earn the most money,” he said.
In the end, Haye stated he can hit harder than both of the Klitschko brothers.
“Certainly, I have physical limitations, but unlike all the others, I can punch,” boasted Haye. “I am also faster, more agile and can hit much, much harder.
Haye currently does not have any title with him so let’s see if the 40-year-old Vitali ‘Dr. Ironfist’ Klitschko, who holds a record of winning 43 of his 45 fights, with 40 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, offers a fight to Haye.
