David Haye says he might postpone retirement plans if Klitschkos agree to fight him – Boxing news
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye has said he will delay his retirement plans if he is given a fight against the current WBA Super, IBF, WBO Super, IBO and Ring Magazine Champion, Wladimir Klitschko, or the current World Boxing Council’s world heavyweight champion,
Vitali Klitschko.
The 30-year-old brash Londoner, Haye, who lost his WBA world heavyweight championship title against Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko, in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles on July 2, 2011, declared he will walk away from the sport if he does
not get a rematch against Wladimir.
However, the Brit has said he will postpone his retirement plan even if he gets a fight with Dr. Ironfist, Vitali Klitschko.
Haye, who holds a record of winning 25 of his 27 professional fights, with 23 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, stated he has changed his mind after he met the most recent undisputed heavyweight champion, Lennox ‘The Lion’ Lewis.
“If I am given a rematch or Vitali will fight me, I will postpone my retirement for six months,” Haye said. “I've reconsidered everything after talking to my family and meeting with Lennox Lewis in Montego Bay, Jamaica.”
“We chilled out there and Lennox gave me some tips on how to beat Vitali, just like he did in 2003,” he said.
Haye was super confident before his mega bout with Wladimir but on the fight night, he lost through a unanimous points’ decision. Therefore Vitali, who has won 43 of his 45 wins including 40 by the way of a knockout, reckons Haye is only good at talking
nonsense and nothing else. However, the 6 ft 8” Ukrainian giant Vitali remarked he wants to fight Haye as he wishes to knock him out.
“Haye is the best boxer - in trash talking,” said Klitschko after beating Tomasz Adamek. “I am saying that I want to fight him. Why? Because he has personally insulted me deeply. I want to knock him out.”
Let’s see if Haye manages to get a fight with Vitali Klitschko or not because it will certainly be an explosive fight.
