David Haye shocks with lowest weight ever
David Haye has turned some heads by showing up at the lightest weight he's ever fought at for a heavyweight bout for Saturday 13 November's clash with Audley Harrison
Friday marked the official weigh-in for Haye and Harrison.
The two will be facing off at the MEN Arena in Manchester for a WBA heavyweight title bout that guarantees to entertain.
Harrison, a former Olympic gold medalist, weighed in at 253.5 pounds (18 stone) while Haye turned heads at just over 210 pounds (15 stone), the lightest he has ever been for a heavyweight meet.
Haye, the WBA champion, attributes the relative lightness to an arduous training program and promised that the difference in weight would work out to his favour.
Harrison, a former Olympic gold medalist, is looking for glory after a series of lacklustre performances downsized his career.  He is 8-4 in his last 12 outings, and understands that the bout with Haye
is his last chance at boxing recovery.
Regarding Haye’s weight, Harrison told
Sky Sports: "David taking off the weight, putting it on, taking it back down must be to my advantage and his disadvantage.  A good one always beats a good little one, I'm a good big one, David Haye's a good little one but I will prevail, my destiny
won't be denied. David is in for the fight of his life - no doubt about that," Harrison confirmed.
Against his last opponent, John Ruiz, Haye weighed in at 222 pounds.
"We expected David to come in light, he's scared to lose and has trained and trained like a crazy man,” Harrison continued. “That's why he's so light. I've taken more time and been more professional and
I'll peak and be ready for tomorrow night.  David is in for a whole heap of trouble if the fight is going into the late rounds. He ain't knocking me out and the only way he wins is if he proves to me he is a better boxer than me technically and I know that
isn't the case."
