David Haye thinks there's more money in Audley Harrison than Klitschkos
WBA heavyweight titlist David Haye thinks he'll get more money fighting Audley Harrison than fighting either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko.
Harrison, an Olympic gold medalist, is 8-4 in his last twelve outings, and is ranked No.38 in the heavyweight division according to boxrec.com.
The same site lists the Klitschko brothers as the top two heavyweights in the world. They hold three of the four major sanctioning body titles.
"We'll find out [how much we make] with the Pay-Per-View numbers, we're not sure what they will be," Haye said of his upcoming fight with Harrison. "But I assume they will be very high and that we'll do very good numbers - because people
will pay to watch Audley Harrison get destroyed. People dislike him that much that they will pay their hard-earned money to watch me dismantle and finally retire Audley Harrison."
Haye continued in characteristic flair, "With what the Klitschkos were offering, I wouldn't be surprised if this earned me more. Potentially, it could make me more than a fight with one of them."
"The Hayemaker" is booked to touch gloves with Harrison this Saturday, 13 November at the MEN Arena in Manchester. The two will put an end to over a month of trash talking, with Haye as the big favourite and Harrison assuming the role
of the popular underdog.
In the past, negotiations between Haye and the Klitschko brothers have amounted to little, despite the Klitschkos attempting to engage Haye on several occasions.
Haye has been criticized of late for 'ducking' the champions and fighting second-tier opponents instead, hardly gambling to put his title on the line.
Haye claimed recently Harrison was the "only viable alternative" to the Klitschkos, despite the fact that he has regularly downplayed Harrison’s achievements in the same sentence.
"Ideally I'd rather be fighting one of the Klitschko brothers, but they would rather fight Shannon Briggs and Samuel Peter. They like their little safety fights. So I don't think Audley Harrison is any worse than those two. I'm looking
forward to it."
