David Horsey regains his form at the BMW Masters
David Horsey of England carded a four-under par in the opening round of the BMW Masters to regain his form on Thursday, October 25, 2012.
The Englishman desperately needed to find his touch in order to retain his European Tour card for the next season.
He currently ranks 146th in The Race to Dubai and a strong finish this week will brighten his chances of playing another European Tour season without going to the Q-School.
The two-time European Tour winner missed 15 cuts in his last 17 appearances on the tour. Therefore, a positive start this week will boost his morale for the remaining few tournaments on the roster.
At the Portugal Masters, a fortnight ago, he posted a 68 in the second round. Despite the fact that he missed the cut, he was happy with his performance, as he recorded five birdies against a lone bogey.
This week, he kept the momentum going and once again recorded five birdies while conceding a single bogey on the fifth hole.
The 27-year-old is now confident to maintain his form in the remaining rounds, in a bid to improve his place in the rankings.
“It's a great score for me to start with,” said Horsey. “I didn't quite take advantage of the wedge shots I had, but holed a few nice ones. It’s been a while so it's nice to get a score on the board for a change and hopefully build on that the rest of the
week”.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, he also stated that he was not focusing on his scorecard. In fact, he was more concerned about his ball striking and putting technique.
According to him, good scores can easily come if one plays good golf on the course and that is what he did at the Lake Malaren Golf Course.
He kept on playing his natural game and played well-calculated shots that provided him a decent finish in the end.
“I’ve just been trying to search for perfect golf shots, perfect golf swings and not concentrating on scoring and getting the ball in the hole,” he said. “So there was a little bit more of that today, and hopefully the rest of my career”.
