David Hussey backing Warner’s switch hit skills – Cricket News Update
Australia veteran, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 in the opening T20 against India – a switch hit shot.
While Warner has shown such ability in the past, most notably in the Champions League T20 2011, the player was at his best where he clobbered http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
However, nothing was conventional in his execution of the shot where he performed a complete u-turn from his usual grip, and taking a stance of a right-hander to a ball which sailed well over the ropes.
The debate over the legality of the shot has been brought into notice but under the current http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 rules, the execution was totally legitimate. Warner, before starting his professional career, was initially a right hander so seeing him generate enormous amount
of power might not come as a surprise to his Aussie teammates.
David Hussey, who played a pivotal part in his team’s win against the Men In Blue, was also in awe of the shot his teammate performs so effortlessly. The veteran believes that such innovations certainly makes cricket more interesting and in turn shows the
evolvement of the sport.
"I think it's innovative," Hussey said. "Dave is a very classy player, he can bat right-handed or left-handed. It's just a new invention of Twenty20 cricket and I think it definitely should be allowed. I think everything is snowballing from Twenty20 cricket.”
"I think you can [adapt to it]. You see in baseball there are people who bat both sides of the plate so there's no reason why you can't do it in cricket. Davey is probably a pioneer. Hopefully a few of the younger kids coming through can work at those skills,"
added Hussey.
The younger brother of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, David also gave his take on how to ensure players not being able to execute such shots where he added that one must "aim at his (player) toes so he can't swing and get into his arc".
The host will lock horns with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the second T20 tomorrow, hoping make full use of Warner’s abilities to inflict another series defeat.
