Prolific Australian all-rounder, David Hussey is hopeful that hard hitting opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 will be fit to lead the side from the front when they take the field against Sri Lanka in the second of the three CB series finals at Adelaide Oval on
Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Swashbuckling Australia opener David Warner, who struck a pugnacious knock of 163 runs in the first final at the Gabba, Brisbane on Sunday, has been battling with cramps since his heroic innings and is a doubtful starter for the game at Adelaide.
David Hussey, the hard hitting middle order batsman of Australia and a handy right-arm off-spinner, said that Warner is an integral part of their squad and hopes he will be up and firing for them on Tuesday evening.
"He's going to have a fitness test tomorrow morning but we all hope he's up and firing for it, it was a fantastic innings and all the boys are hoping he replicates that tomorrow," said Hussey.
"He's an integral part of the team, opening batsman. If he comes out and produces another 150, that'd be fantastic for us and go a long way towards us achieving our goal and winning the series in two games," he added further.
Warner has so far played 19 One Day Internationals for Australia compiling 568 runs, including a century and three half centuries. His 163 against Sri Lanka was not only his highest score but also the highest ODI score at Gabba.
Australia prevailed in the thrilling first final on Sunday with a margin of just 15 runs and they lead the three-match final 1-0. A victory for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 must be
looking forward to winning in Tuesday’s match to keep their hopes of lifting the CB series trophy alive.
David Hussey also lavished praise on the Sri Lankan team for the strong fight, especially http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802 who blazed 73 runs off just 43 deliveries, bringing the tourists back in the game.
"They did [surprise], particularly Kulasekara, he's a bit of a fighter,” said Hussey while speaking to the media reporters on the eve of the second final.
