However, Clarke’s injury has again opened the door for him to get selected, and his Melbourne Stars teammate David Hussey feels that Quiney has the temperament to succeed at Test level. The Boxing Day clash will be staged at Quiney’s home ground in Melbourne.
"He's had limited opportunity in the Test match arena, so if he does get another chance I think Boxing Day would be perfect for him," Hussey said on Tuesday.
"He knows the conditions and ground very well, so he'd be my selection.
"His Test match debut didn't go so well, but being back around the (Melbourne Stars) group he's very, very comfortable and everybody loves him being around."
