David Hussey wants openers to spark in the 3rd ODI vs. Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Experienced Australia all-rounder, David Hussey, has urged openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 and Matthew Wade to provide the side with a solid start if they are to win the third and final One Day International against Pakistan, in Sharjah, UAE today, September 3, 2012.
The three-match ODI series between Australia and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 is levelled 1-1, and the winner of tonight’s match will clinch the series. The Kangaroos won the series opener, played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, on August 28, by four wickets, before Pakistan turned the tables on them in the second one-dayer, at Abu Dhabi, by chasing down Australia’s respectable total of 248 for 9 in 43.4 overs, at the expense of only three wickets.
The collective inadequacy of openers, Warner and Wade, has been a cause of concern for Michael Clarke-led Australia. The failed to provide the side with a solid platform in both the games, sharing opening stands of 13 and eight runs in the first two ODIs. Hard-hitting Warner, who had scored five runs in the opening one-dayer last week, played an unusually cautious innings on Friday, scoring 24 runs from 68 balls.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 could struggle big time if the openers repeated their below par performance in the series decider on Monday night.
"We just need Dave Warner and Matthew Wade to play their natural games and back their own ability," Hussey was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, who has managed to score only 17 runs in the last two games, is expected to drop down the order, in favour of David’s elder brother, Mike Hussey.
"You might see a different opening combination play. I reckon they'll smack it to all parts," said the 35-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 all-rounder.
Australia are also sweating over fitness of left-arm seamer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392, who claimed five for 42 in Sharjah but could not complete his quota of overs in Abu Dhabi, on Friday because of chest soreness.
''We desperately need him,'' said Hussey when asked about Starc’s fitness, adding that the left-armer was feeling fine.
