Golden Boy Promotion’s Chief Operating Officer David Itskowitch, Senior Director Communications of SHOWTIME Sports Chris DeBlasio and Abner Mares’ manager Frank Espinoza have shared their thoughts on the Bantamweight Tournament Final, which will take place
on Saturday night between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko.
This final match of Bantamweight tournament in which Agbeko’s International Boxing Federation title and Mares’ World Boxing Association’s Silver bantamweight belt will be on the line is going to take place this Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Joint at Hard
Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Itskowitch told the media he is pretty excited ahead of this mega showdown between two of the boxing’s best, as he thinks there is going to be an explosive fight between both pugilists.
“We’re very excited about the culmination of this tournament and on Saturday. We are going to witness a great night for boxing,” Itskowitch said.
DeBlasio of SHOWTIME in the meanwhile shared his feeling as he told the audience he is anxiously waiting for the winner who would be labelled as the best bantamweight fighter in the world.
DeBlasio also claimed Agbeko versus Mares is most competitive fight of this year.
While speaking on his inclusion, DeBlasio stated, “This fight is of major importance to the bantamweight division and on Saturday night we will see who the best bantamweight in the world is.”
“In Agbeko versus Mares, you won’t find a more competitive and compelling matchup this year in boxing,” DeBlasio added.
Mares’ manager, Espinoza, was also there to share his views. Espinoza remarked he is fully confident that his fighter is the best in the division and he vowed everyone will also agree to him on the fight night.
“From day one, I knew Abner had the makings of a champion. Joseph Agbeko is one of the best in the world, but on Saturday we are going to see the coronation of boxing’s newest superstar,” Espinoza remarked.
Let’s see whether Mares is able to shrug off the Veteran champion Agbeko in the ring or not.
