David Lipsky’s parents will join him at the venue course of the CJ Invitational Hosted by KJ Choi
After recording a strong finish at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters last week, David Lipsky is set to participate in the upcoming CJ Invitational Hosted by KJ Choi.
The co-sanctioned event by the Asian Tour and Korean Golf Tour will be held at the Haesley Nine Bridges Golf Club from October 4 to 7, 2012. This will be the first time that a co-sanctioned event will be hosted by an Asian player.
Choi turned professional in 1994 and made his debut on the Asian Tour. He now plays on the tour as an honorary member.
This week, he will join the league of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods, all of whom have played in tournaments that they themselves have hosted.
Meanwhile, Lipsky is relishing the opportunity of participating in the US$750,000 event. Last week, he recorded a brilliant five-under par 67 in the final round to tie for the third spot on the leaderboard.
It was a phenomenal performance, considering the fact that the tournament was being held at one of the toughest golf courses in Asia – the Taiwan Golf & Country Club.
This week, he is confident to record another good finish, especially when his parents will be there on the course to provide him moral support.
“My mum is from Korea and it’s an excuse for her to come back to see her family and watch me play,” said Lipsky.
“This is my second visit to Korea and I don’t really have the opportunity to come here as often as I would like to as I’m always playing golf in the summer in the States,” added Lipsky.
The 24-year-old is currently enjoying the best of his forms on the Asian Tour, as he ranks fifth in the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
Therefore, he now wants to end the season on a high note, in a bid to further improve his position in the money list.
“I just want to take my good form, ride it out and see where it takes me,” he said. “I’ve been hitting the ball a lot better since I won in Cambodia and my short game has been better,” said Lipsky.
