Roberto Di Matteo, the Chelsea caretaker manager, has revealed he is working hard to ensure David Luiz and Gary Cahill are fit for the upcoming UEFA Champions League final.
In a press conference on Friday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 had not recovered from their respective hamstring injuries, ruling them out of the last English Premier League clash of the season against Blackburn
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
Di Matteo said while speaking to reporters:
“Now we're trying our hardest working towards next Saturday in the hope they'll be in the group training next week.
We tried, but he wasn't ready so now we're trying for the last game. It's difficult to give it as a percentage.
They're at similar stages - not available for Sunday, and next week we'll push them to be available for the group.”
Roberto Di Matteo has a situation at hand for the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 suspended and David Luiz and Gary Cahill out injured. The Italian will be in a race against time to ensure he has
some defensive options available ahead of the European cup final.
He revealed he was hopeful of the chances of David Luiz and Gary Cahill making a recovery in time for the final since they had not been out injured for too long. He admitted they were pushing them to regain fitness so they could play a role for the Blues
in the Champions League final.
He revealed:
“They've been out three or four weeks, not like three or four months. We have to push them as hard as we can.”
When asked whether Cahill’s involvement with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in the European Championships, Di Matteo revealed he believed the club’s interests came first and that he would consider playing the English
defender if he was fit.
Di Matteo said:
“We need to think about ourselves and what the club's interests are.
If he's fine, he'll be available. If he's not, he won't be. As simple as that.”
