Despite being at the end of some scathing criticism from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Neville-c14447 who described Luiz’s performances as being something that would resemble a 10 year old playing on his play station, the Brazilian defender has retained
his place in the Chelsea starting line up.
Andres Villas Boas started with Luiz in Chelsea’s latest encounter against Manchester United and despite taking a three goal lead, the Blues capitulated and gifted a point to United who came back from three goals down to draw the
match in question by three goals all. It was an interesting match to watch for the neutrals but not for the managers involved. Luiz started as the centre back for Chelsea alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 and United took full advantage of his inexperience in the second
half of the match to draw level.
Nonetheless, the Brazilian defender remains optimistic about his chances in the Premier League. He said in his interview, "I have been working in the same way as always, training at my best level. Sometimes you get criticism, like
I did, and recently I have been applauded for my work. As long as I can go home and lay down on my bed and have my conscience clear that I am doing an honest job, I am happy.”
He added, “The main thing is to continue working and maintaining the philosophy that the coach instructs. We have to do this, sometimes we are doing things that are great and not getting the results and sometimes we do things not
so good and get the result. The main thing is to continue working hard and obviously we are not where we want to be at the moment, not fighting for first place, but we have to keep looking for victories and believe in ourselves until the end.”
