David Luiz on his way to the Premier League
David Luiz, who just so happens to be one of the most sought after players in the world of football at the moment, could very well be on his way to the Premier League as early as January.
This move for the player to the Premier League came into existence after the defender went ahead and stated that he was in doubts regarding his future at Benfica, hence stating he was not sure if he would be a part of the team come this
January.
The Brazilian defender is currently under contract with the Portuguese side until 2015. However Chelsea and Manchester City have been eager to sign the player over the last couple of months and are willing to go the extra mile and spend
a little extra just to land the player.
Now with this latest piece of news that the player might join the English Premier League is confirming speculation. He earlier himself has admitted that he might be on the way out as their teams are more than ready to cash in on him.
The 23-year-old has a release clause in his contract currently set at forty million pounds, but according to most experts a sum of around twenty five million pounds might just prove to be enough to let the Benfica-man be free.
Keeping that in mind, if the player does decide to leave the club having already turned down a contract extension at the club he will be short on options.
Luiz is reported to have said: “My future, only God knows. I do not know where I will be in January, in the summer or in 2015. The rumours from England? I know that and I follow them, but this does not depend on me.”
He continued, “I refused another renewal because I have a contract until June 2015 and am happy here. I have a clear conscience. If it were only a matter of money, I would not be at Benfica. Criticism hurts me
but my mission is to work every day.”
With Chelsea and City being the prime candidates to land the player, it is safe to say he is as good as a Premier League player already.
