http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 has revealed he does not believe his side were lucky to win the UEFA Champions League.
Despite finishing sixth on the English Premier League table, the Blues surprised everyone by not only winning the FA Cup but also the UEFA Champions League trophy. Even though they were initially not going to qualify for Champions League football next season,
their win over Bayern Munich changed things.
The London club will now take fourth place Tottenham Hotspur’s place in the European competition next season and Luiz felt they deserved it. He felt they would work even harder next season to en sure a higher finish in the Premier League.
Luiz said while speaking to reporters:
“Our titles have silenced many mouths because people had buried us and had no confidence in our results. Nobody gave us the titles we have won - all our rivals fought 100 per cent. I do not accept that Chelsea was a team with luck because it is not true.”
The 25-year-old believed it was now their obligation to give the fans an English Premier League trophy, since they had proven to themselves and everyone else that they had it in them. Luiz urged his teammates to prepare for the upcoming season and work hard.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, who went on to lead the Blues to the FA Cup and the UEFA
Champions League.
However, Luiz felt the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss deserved his due credit for helping the side to where they were today. In addition to that he revealed he felt Di Matteo deserved the position on a more permanent basis but admitted the decision ultimately lay
with the management.
He revealed:
“I insist that AVB is not a bad coach. He has played a part in the success of winning our titles.”
The players have worked very united with Di Matteo, though. He demanded us to fight more, show total discipline in our tactics and make much sacrifice.
We want Di Matteo to continue, but the decision is in the hands of the owner.”
